What will your ‘typical’ day look like… (there’s no two days the same in Atom):

As Data Strategy Implementation Manager, you’ll work to support the Chief Data Officer in driving forward, guiding and tracking the effectiveness and implementation of Atom’s data strategy and compliance with data regulations and principles. Using your expertise in data management you’ll influence stakeholders at all levels whilst providing practical advice and guidance. This role is key in helping us deliver our Data Strategy.

In this role you’ll work with the business to define Data Quality rules & Data controls in line with privacy, IRB & GDPR regulations. A key part of this role is focused on data management and data related initiatives, ensuring these are progressed against the Data strategy, with these being spread across Value Streams these need to be aggregated into a data-lens for ExCo and the Board. You’ll also lead and champion priority initiatives, including enhanced reporting for regulatory & financial planning and self-service access to data.

This role will set and support the standards of our Data Governance team, ensuring a high performing culture through team management, personal development planning and providing technical support and guidance to the team.

You will also:

  • Support BAU and change management processes corresponding to Data Quality measurement, monitoring, and issue management capabilities.
  • Ensure Data Quality issue management processes are effective to ensure that issues are captured and dealt with efficiently following best practice; underlying themes are to be recorded and explored to improve data quality across Atom, and comply with GDPR, BCBS239 and other data requirements.
  • Refresh and provide assurance over adherence to the Data Governance Framework and its associated data management standards, data regulation and practices.
  • Set data standards and monitor performance of data management, quality, and usage through KRIs, KPIs and relevant MI to manage data risk and realise value from data.
  • Manage relationships with Data Owners and Data Stewards across the Bank, working closely with Atom’s Value Streams and Product Owners (Mortgages, Savings, Business Banking and Enterprise).
  • Share data management expertise and act as the SME for data queries with stakeholders across the Bank.
  • Lead and manage a small team of individuals focused on data governance analysis, whilst coaching broader stakeholders on data governance principles and collaborating closely with data engineering.
  • Facilitate understanding and lineage documentation for data across its lifecycle. Ensure data items are defined and captured within our data governance tools.

What do we need from you?

  • Relevant experience in Data Management & Strategy
  • Hands-on and proven delivery experience of leading data management across the data lifecycle and implementation of data quality frameworks.
  • Experience of data related regulatory requirements and ensuring and/or measuring compliance with such regulations.
  • Understanding of data architecture, data integration, data modelling, and experience of data quality management.
  • The ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment with a high growth business.
  • Experience in data analysis, data profiling and/or Data Quality dashboards and using analytics and dashboarding tools such as Tableau.
  • The ability to influence and drive decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of stakeholders up to Executive and Board audiences.
