Technology is at the heart of the business, and we have a world-leading Technology stack that enables us to offer the most efficient, user-friendly app-based bank. The Technology team has end to end responsibility for all aspects of our Technology, from architecting the future, engineering solutions, to deploying and managing our technology services.
Our Technology teams are now set up in paced change & delivery teams, delivering different types of initiatives aligned to Business Value Streams to support our business growth.
As a Junior Software Engineer role your activity managed within the Business Lending Value Stream and you’ll line coached by one of our Engineering community. In this role you’ll collaborate with other engineers, focusing on adding value to Value Stream deliverables, which includes identifying and resolving issues and building small features and services that will be deployed to Production.
You will:
- Implement fundamental coding standards as set out by your relevant community of practice
- Individually contribute to small items, such as bug fixes and simple features
- Contribute to mid-large items, in collaboration with other engineers
- Participate in delivery meetings, summing up progress within flight work and communication blockers
- Contribute to various backend engineering services using the appropriate software language and tools
- Resolve defects by working closely with Test and Frontend team members
- Ensure that all developed components have the appropriate level of quality and governance (version control, unit testing, secure development
What do we need from you?
- Experience/training in software development
- Understanding fundamental software development principals
- Experience working within a key Atom software technology, such as Golang, Java or Python
- Understanding of the testing processes revolving around software development
- Able to take a design document and produce a software solution based upon it
- Clear communicator both written and verbally
- Demonstrate a curiosity to learn
