Say hello to Dale, our new TBDM for the South-West

We’re always excited when new talent joins the Digital Mortgages team, but it’s extra special when we can welcome someone from within the business.

Dale Purvis joined as our new Telephone Business Development Manager for the South-West in late 2021, having moved across from another role at Atom bank. Here, he introduces himself and tells us a little bit about his journey to becoming a TBDM.

I’ll always remember Monday 30th January 2017 as the day my life changed for the better, though I wouldn’t believe it at the time! That weekend was very stressful: I’d finished my last shift with my previous employer on the Saturday, moved house on the Sunday and started my new job on the Monday — talk about being tired!

But back to that first Monday at Atom bank — my new job title was Mortgage Processor. On my first day, I walked into a new building, in a new town, for a new company; I kept reminding myself to be quiet and don’t wear your heart on your sleeve. It lasted the best part of five minutes as I was made to feel right at home!

Since then, I’ve worked as a Mortgage Processor, Lending Specialist, Technical Data Administrator, Knowledge Management Administrator, all within Atom bank. Then, in February 2021, I set my eyes on transitioning into a Business Development role. In preparation I switched back to being a Lending Specialist to enhance my knowledge, then, in October 2021, I started my new role as a Telephone Business Development Manager.

Now, I look after the South-West across to Berkshire with my designated BDM on the road (oh hi Eddie!). Together we support brokers with onboarding, criteria and policy queries and ultimately aim to make the broker journey with us as seamless as possible. We also work with the backend MI to see how we can run more efficiently together and as a wider team.

I’m fortunate to work within such a supportive team, where nothing is ever too much trouble and no question is ever too stupid — trust me when I say I’ve tried! I’m really excited to see what we can do to work even more cohesively and see what positive influence we can bring to the wider bank!
